2026 Coaches
My name is Marissa Trader, and I am so excited to be the Head Coach of the Forest Lakes Swim Team again this summer!
I am currently attending Virginia Tech and will soon be entering my senior year. I am studying Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience and Multimedia Journalism, with a minor in French, and I encourage any questions about any of these subjects!
I have been a part of the Forest Lakes Swim Team since I was 5 years old (my mom tried to get me on the team at age 4, but I was too young), and I have been coaching since the first moment I could. I absolutely love getting to know every single child on the team and working with them to improve not only their times, but their confidence in the water as well.

This is my 10th season swimming with Forest Lakes and I have been swimming for 13 years now! This will be my third season coaching and I'm super excited for another fun summer.
JSL is always one of the highlights of my summer! I swim year round with BASS in Charlottesville and am super excited to get to coach everyone again this year.
I am a junior at Covenant and in my free time I love to swim, hang out with my friends and be outside - you'll always catch me by the pool over the summer!
My name is Aidan, and I have been coaching with the forest lakes swim team for 5 going on 6 seasons now and swimming for 8. In addition to FLST I also swam for my school team at Albemarle High School and for BASS.
For fun I enjoy playing lacrosse, hanging out with friends, and anything that involves cars. Next year I will be attending James Madison University (Go Dukes) on a Business and Finance track. I believe swimming is one of the most valuable skills a person can learn, and I'm excited to spend another summer with the team while helping your kids build confidence in the water, improve their skills, and hopefully win a few races along the way!
I’ve been swimming for FLST since first grade, and this will be my fourth year coaching for FL. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis and staying active outside of the pool. I plan to attend Lehigh University in the fall.

My name is Jake Syms, and I am a rising senior at Albemarle High School. This will be my 10th year swimming at Forest Lakes and my 4th year coaching.
I am also a part of Cavalier Aquatics, where I have been swimming for 6 years and have qualified for multiple national events. Outside of swimming I love playing golf and hanging out with friends. GO CANES!
